Job Title: Senior Estimator / Operations Manager
The Role…
We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and highly organized Senior Estimator / Operations Manager to bridge the gap between commercial viability and flawless project execution. In this dual-faceted role, you will hold the reins on both pre-construction accuracy and day-to-day operational excellence.
You will lead our estimating efforts—ensuring competitive, accurate, and profitable bids—while simultaneously overseeing project lifecycles, resource allocation, and team performance. This is a pivotal leadership position designed for a seasoned professional who thrives on numbers but excels in leadership, client relations, and operational strategy.
Key Responsibilities…
Bid Management: Oversee the preparation of detailed, accurate material, labor, and time estimates for large-scale projects.
Risk Assessment: Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and contract terms to identify potential risks and mitigation strategies.
Vendor Negotiations: Source, vet, and negotiate competitive pricing with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
Operations Management
Project Oversight: Drive the execution phase of projects, ensuring delivery remains on schedule, within scope, and under budget.
Resource & Workflow Optimization: Manage internal teams, allocate labor efficiently, and streamline day-to-day operational workflows.
Quality & Compliance: Maintain stringent quality control standards and ensure all operations adhere to health, safety, and legal regulations.
What We Need from You…
Proven Experience: A minimum of 7–10 years of experience in senior estimating and project/operations management within the industry.
Technical Expertise: Mastery of modern estimating software, project management tools, and deep proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
Commercial Acumen: Strong financial literacy with a proven track record of maintaining high-profit margins and managing complex project budgets.
Leadership & Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the natural ability to negotiate, influence, and lead cross-functional teams.
Problem-Solving Mindset: A proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks, resolving conflicts, and adapting to shifting project timelines.
Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on leadership experience).
Salary and Benefits…
– Salary: £22,000 – £27,000 per annum (depending on experience)
